Global sourcing governance

July 21st, 2007

Global sourcing is not new anymore. Even the realization that governance is the single most important factor that impacts realization of business value – is also not new anymore. After all, most large corporations have rapidly moved to take advantage of pools of talent, competencies across the world.

What is new – is the realization that companies not only need to “somewhat manage” the deals – they need to excel at getting the maximum out of the global resource pools (whether internal or external). This starts from a disciplined approach to selecting what should be sourced – where it should be sourced – how you would know the business value is being realized – and incorporating the feedback or learning – back into the decision making process.

We believe tools can augment and support this process, and make it easier for companies to move away from a deal-by-deal adhoc governance model into a streamlined governance process that reduces wasted effort in manually collecting and reporting metrics, and empowers senior leaders with the information and analysis that leads to effective decision making.
